Wine Festival 2021
53 years ago, the cities of Mumbai and Stuttgart were twinned. To develop the city partnership further, every year the wine festival STUTTGART MEETS MUMBAI is organized by the Indian Honorary Consulate. From 22nd until 28th of February 2021 the 17th wine festival took place online for the first time.
More than 1.000 guests from India, Germany and 15 other countries registered on the festival platform.
On Monday, 22nd February 2021 the wine festival STUTTGART MEETS MUMBAI was officially opened by Mr. Andreas Lapp, Honorary Consul of the Republic of India for Baden-Wuerttemberg and Rhineland-Palatinate and representatives from politics and economy from Stuttgart and Mumbai.
During the wine festival the guests could visit more than 15 virtual partner booth and take part in 10 webinars on various topics. A wide range of themes such as Stuttgart's start-up scene, the wine region Wuerttemberg and Indo-German school cooperation’s were presented and discussed during the sessions.
For the 17thwine festival two artists from India and Germany have worked together on an art project. The results were presented to the public for the first time one the STUTTGART MEETS MUMBAI platform.
In addition, the festival participants could enjoy an Indo-German dance project. Therefore, dancers from Stuttgart and Mumbai have performed in front of famous sights of their home cities.
Further highlights of the wine festival were 2 virtual wine tastings. Therefore, wine from Baden-Wuerttemberg was shipped to Mumbai and delivered to wine enthusiasts. During the tasting sessions, winemakers from the regions presented their wines, explained the winemaking process, and answered the questions of the participants.
The wine festival ended with a virtual dinner. Attendees from Mumbai could order a menu with Swabian specialties like potato salad, "Maultaschen" and "Kaesespaetzle" and have it delivered right to their doorstep.
