COVID-19 travel and visa restrictions for India
Since October 21st, 2020 foreign nationals are permitted to enter India by water routes or by flights. India and Germany have made bilateral air travel arrangements ("Air Bubbles") which allow flights between both countries.
Most types of visas, which have been suspended, will be restored with immediate effect. Exceptions are electronic visas, tourist visas and medical visas. More information can be found here.
Touris visits to India are still not possible. The Foreign Office warns against unnecessary tourist travels to India.
Urgent questions on Visa for India
If you live in Baden-Wuerttemberg or Bavaria you can contact the Consulate General of India in Munich. In urgent cases regarding visas for India, please send an E-Mail to the following adress: firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Honorary Consulate of India in Stuttgart generally does not issue visas and can therefore only give limited advice on visas.
Indian citizens in Germany
Indian national who wish to travel to India should check the quidelines for international arrivals issued by the Indian government before travelling. The guidelines can be found here.
The Indian Embassy in Berlin is also operating a hotline in case of urgent questions.
In addition, the Consulate General of the Republic of India in Munich has published answers on frequently asked questions on its website.
